From September 1st through February 1st, we're running daily charters that kick off at 8:00 AM sharp. This private trip is perfect for groups of up to 6, so grab your fishing buddies or bring the family along. We'll spend our time exploring the productive inshore waters, targeting spots where the fish are biting. Light tackle fishing is the name of the game here, and we provide all the rods, reels, and bait you'll need. Plus, no need to worry about licenses - we've got that covered too. And if plans change? No sweat. We offer free cancellation with 24-hour notice, so you can book with confidence.
When you step aboard, Captain Jordan will give you the rundown on the day's game plan. We'll likely start by hitting some of the local hot spots - grass flats, oyster bars, and mangrove shorelines where the fish love to hang out. Depending on the tides and conditions, we might do some drift fishing or anchor up on a productive spot. Light tackle fishing is all about finesse, so we'll show you how to work your bait or lure to entice those bites. Don't worry if you're new to this style of fishing - we'll walk you through everything from casting to setting the hook. And when you do hook up? Get ready for some drag-screaming action as these inshore fighters put your skills to the test!

Snook: These hard-fighting linesiders are a favorite among Florida anglers. Known for their explosive strikes and acrobatic jumps, snook can be found lurking around structure like mangroves and docks. They're most active during the warmer months, but we can still find them year-round. The thrill of battling a big snook on light tackle is something you won't soon forget.
Black Drum: Often overlooked but always fun to catch, black drum are the bulldogs of the inshore world. These powerful fish use their pharyngeal teeth to crush crabs and shellfish, so we'll often target them with natural baits. They can grow to impressive sizes, with some drum topping 50 pounds! Even the smaller ones put up a great fight, and they're excellent table fare too.
Tarpon: Known as the "Silver King," tarpon are the ultimate inshore game fish. These prehistoric-looking creatures can grow over 100 pounds and are famous for their spectacular aerial displays when hooked. We typically see them more in the warmer months, but lucky anglers might encounter them year-round. Landing a tarpon is a true feat of angling skill - it's all about the experience rather than keeping them for the table.
Sheepshead: Don't let their striped, almost comical appearance fool you - sheepshead are clever fish and notoriously tricky to hook. They have strong, human-like teeth perfect for crushing barnacles and crabs. We often find them around structures like pilings and oyster bars. The bite can be subtle, but once hooked, sheepshead put up a surprisingly good fight for their size. They're also delicious, making them a popular target for anglers looking to bring home dinner.
New Smyrna Beach is one of Florida's top inshore fishing destinations for a reason. With a diverse range of species and year-round action, there's always something biting. Our 4-hour trip is the perfect way to experience the best of what these waters have to offer. Whether you're looking to land your personal best, introduce the kids to fishing, or just enjoy a relaxing morning on the water, Captain Jordan and the team at Central Florida Fishing Charters have got you covered. Don't miss out on the chance to create some unforgettable fishing memories - book your trip today and get ready to feel that first tug on the line!

Black drum are one of our hardest-fighting inshore species. These cousins of the redfish can grow huge, with some topping 90 pounds, though 5-30 pounders are more common. You'll find them hanging around oyster bars, pilings, and other structure in our brackish estuaries. They use their strong jaws and teeth to crush shellfish, so areas with good crab and oyster populations are prime spots. Spring is excellent for targeting big spawning drum, but you can catch them year-round. Anglers love black drum for their powerful, dogged fights. They don't make long runs, but they'll use their weight to bulldoze straight down. The smaller ones under 15 pounds are great eating too - any bigger and the meat gets tough. When you're fishing for them, remember they have sensitive barbels for sensing food. I always tell folks to use a light touch when you feel that telltale tap-tap-tap bite.

Sheepshead are one of our tastiest inshore fish, known for their striking black and white stripes. These "convict fish" typically run 1-8 pounds, though they can get up to 20. You'll find them around any structure with barnacles - docks, pilings, jetties, you name it. They use their weird human-like teeth to crunch crustaceans. Winter and early spring are prime sheepshead time as they gather to spawn. Anglers love targeting them for their delicious white meat and the challenge of catching them. These bait-stealers are experts at nibbling your hook clean. When you feel that light tap, set the hook hard. I always tell folks to use the smallest hooks possible - #1 or #2 work great. Fresh shrimp, fiddler crabs, or barnacles are top baits. Get as close to the structure as you can and fish straight up and down for best results.

Snook are a prized inshore species here in New Smyrna Beach. These sleek, powerful fish typically run 1-3 feet long, with the big ones pushing 40 inches. You'll find them lurking around mangroves, docks, and other structure in our estuaries and backwaters. Snook love ambushing bait, so look for them in areas with good current flow. Fall through spring is prime time as they move into the shallows. Anglers love targeting snook for their aggressive strikes and acrobatic fights - these fish will tail-walk and make blistering runs. Their firm white meat is excellent eating too. When you hook one, be ready for it to make a beeline for the nearest snag. I always tell folks to keep steady pressure and steer them away from structure. Live bait like pilchards or pinfish is hard to beat, but soft plastics work great too if you can mimic their natural prey.

Tarpon are the silver kings of our inshore waters. These prehistoric-looking giants can top 200 pounds, with 80-100 pounders being more common. You'll find them cruising our flats, channels, and beaches, often rolling on the surface. Spring through fall is prime tarpon time as they migrate along the coast. Anglers chase tarpon for their spectacular aerial acrobatics - these fish will leap clear out of the water, shaking their massive heads to throw the hook. It's a bucket-list fish for many. While they're not good eating, the sheer thrill of the fight keeps people coming back. When you hook up, be ready for multiple jumps and long, powerful runs. I always tell folks to bow to the king when they jump - drop your rod tip to give them slack so they don't throw the hook. Live bait like mullet or crabs works great, but watching a tarpon crush a topwater lure is hard to beat.

Captain Jordan has called me just after finishing reservation to start contact with us and he answered all my questions. It was my first such fishing in Florida. You can feel safe and under good care. I appreciate his hard work and patience to help us catching fishes. The boat is nice and clean. You can hide in shade. Thank you very much Captain Jordan 🙂
